Wapaskwa Virtual Collegiate – Principal – Allison McDonald
Allison McDonald has a Bachelor of Science (4 Year Major) and a Bachelor of Education from the University of Manitoba. Earlier in her teaching career, she was employed in Winnipeg with the Louis Riel School Division as a multi-grade teacher. Prior to joining Wapaskwa Virtual Collegiate, she worked for the Peguis Education Authority for the past 13 years in various roles including: Grade 6 classroom teacher, Senior High Math and Science teacher, vice-principal and principal of Peguis Central School. Allison also worked at the post-secondary office in Winnipeg.
Course Developer/Instructor – Ron Hallock
Ron Hallock has a Master of Science and education certificate from the University of Manitoba and Bachelor of Science degree from the University of Winnipeg. Prior to joining Wapaskwa Virtual Collegiate, he worked for the Manitoba First Nations Education Resource Centre as a Science specialist. Prior experience includes 36 years with the River East Transcona School Division as a science and math teacher, administrator in the Continuing Education Department and RETSD Summer School principal. He has worked for the Province of Manitoba Education Department as a Science Assessment writer and has been a member of the Technical Advisory Committee for Provincial Science Assessment. He has also served as writer on the Manitoba Team for Council of Ministers Education Science. Ron is a life member of the Science Teacher Association of Manitoba and a Science Teacher of the Year award recipient.
Course Developer/Instructor – Ernest Kuch
Ernest Kuch holds a Master of Science degree from the University of Manitoba. He has been active in Manitoba education for over 40 years. His classroom experience includes teaching both Junior and Senior High School science and math courses. Ernest has written Manitoba Science Curriculum and co-authored science textbooks. He has been involved in several provincial assessments for junior high science and senior high Chemistry. While teaching in the River East Transcona School Division, Ernest was a coordinator of the Walter Duncan Foundation, School Improvement Project, on introducing technology into classrooms. For the past two years, Ernest was part of a Manitoba First Nations Education Resource Centre team working on the School Improvement Project.
Curriculum Developer/Instructor –Darcy-Anne Thomas
Darcy-Anne has a Bachelor of Education Degree from University Alberta 85. Her teaching experiences from 1985-95 include: Prairie Rose Regional Division, Dunmore, AB; Northern Lights SD, Bonnyville, AB; Wasagamack School, MB; Lethbridge Community College; and Sapotaweyak School, MB. Other experiences include: Teacher Training Coordinator, Seoul, Korea 96-97; English Program Coordinator, Soul Korea 97-98; English Language Arts Curriculum & Instruction Specialist, MFNERC 99-09; Education Consultant, Sage Education Services, AB 09-11; and Substitute Teacher, Horizon School Division, Taber AB 11.
Curriculum Developer/Instructor – Sabrina Guentert
Sabrina has a Bachelor of Science Degree from the UM 2004 and a Bachelor of Education Degree from the UM 2006. She is currently working on her Post Bac in Special Education. Sabrina has been a substitute teacher with Interlake, Seven Oaks, Lord Selkirk, St. James-Assiniboia and Winnipeg School Divisions since 2006.
Curriculum Developer/Instructor – Peter Petkau
Peter has a Certificate in Education, UM in 1974; Bachelor of Theology, CMU in 1978; Bachelor of Education, UM in 1981; Computer Technician, WTC in 1997; Post Baccalaureate in Education from the UM in 2005. He has 13 years as Computer Instructor with Charles Sinclair High School, Fisher River; 2 years Computer Instructor with Poplar River School; 10 years teaching in various communities in southern Manitoba and Adult Computer Instructor for Community Nites in Fisher River.
Curriculum Developer/Instructor – Chris Fredrickson
Chris is Metis, and has a Bachelor of Fine Arts from the UM in 2009 and a Bachelor of Education Degree from UM in 2011. Chris has teaching experience with Evergreen Colony School in 2011; and teacher placements with River East Collegiate in 09-10, and Sturgeon Heights Collegiate in 10-11.
Technical Support – Conrad Beck
Conrad Beck is a technician who provides support to the course developers, future students and online instructors.
Multimedia Designer – Dwayne Bird
Dwayne is from Peguis First Nation and has been working with Wapaskwa since June 2010. He graduate of Digital Multimedia Technology Diploma Course at Red River College and has training in radio and television broadcasting with the Academy of Broadcasting.
Content Manager – Don Monkman
Don Monkman is a graphic designer and artist with many years of experience in branding and commercial design.
